Escambia County commissioners approve consent agendas and reinstate sewer-connection portion of residential improvement grant

Escambia County commissioners approved multiple consent-agenda items and reinstated the sewer-connection portion of a residential improvement grant for non-homestead homeowners during a meeting advertised in the Pensacola News Journal.

The Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) consent agenda was presented and approved; the vote was recorded in the meeting transcript as "30 with two commissioners out." Later, the budget-and-finance consent items — which included the cancellation of a residential roof program loans and recommendations concerning residential rehab grant program funding and loan agreements — were presented and approved (vote in the transcript recorded as "40").

Staff asked the board to reinstate the sewer-connection portion of the residential improvement grant for properties that might be rented or held in trust, with revised stipulations for the grant. "We are asking that the board reinstate the sewer connection part of the residential improvement grant for nonhomestead homeowners with the stipulations that have been revised in agreement for this grant," a staff member said. Commissioner Coler moved to approve the reinstatement, saying, "I know this was really important. Yeah, I'll make a motion to approve." The motion passed; the transcript records the vote as "40."
