RSU 73 board backs plan for Spruce Mountain "Tigers Andes Phoenix" Sports Hall of Fame

Clint Brooks presented a proposal to the RSU 73 school board to create the "Tigers Andes Phoenix Sports Hall of Fame," outlining governance, selection criteria and a tentative induction timeline. "The Tigers Andes Phoenix Sports Hall of Fame will honor Jay Livermore and Livermore Falls student athletes, coaches, teams, and special contributors, past and present, who have brought outstanding recognition to both themselves and the schools serving the Tritown area," Brooks read for the board.
Brooks described two governing bodies for the project: an executive committee to oversee the hall’s operations and a selection committee organized to balance gender, geography and generational representation. He said initial costs for a first year of induction could run several thousand dollars, and that organizers plan to ask the athletics boosters to fund the startup year rather than request district operating funds.
Board members praised the proposal as a community-building initiative that could reconnect alumni with current students. One member noted two potential committee refusals were strictly geographic; otherwise, Brooks said, most people he contacted agreed to participate. The board then took a formal motion to record its support; the motion was seconded and carried without opposition.
Brooks told the board he hopes the first induction will occur during the late winter basketball season in 2026–27, and he provided contact information for follow-up and committee recruitment. Organizers will next present to the sports boosters and refine logistics, including whether a rotating exhibit or permanent display will be required once a backlog of honorees accumulates.
The vote recorded only the board’s support for the proposal; no district budget appropriation was approved at the meeting.
