The chair presented each certificate "in the name and by the authority of the city of Weatherford, Texas," and each appointee repeated the oath administered by city staff.
Melanie, the official administering the oath, led the swearing-in language; the sworn members repeated the words, "I do solemnly swear or affirm that I will faithfully execute the duties of the office ... and will to the best of my ability preserve, protect and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States and of this state."
Council and staff paused for photographs and brief congratulations after each oath. The council then proceeded to the evening's agenda, including consent items and an ordinance on park regulations.
