Bargaining group agrees to refine contract language and materials to show salary placement clearly
Summary
After reviewing sample salary-schedule tables and contract insertion options, the team asked staff to prepare a wood-design word document that adds explanatory language and a linked salary schedule; members flagged manual data-entry risk and suggested keys or asterisks for state minimums.

The IBB team reviewed proposed materials to make individual salary placement clearer in teacher contracts and agreed to return a revised word document at the next meeting.
Presenters demonstrated a three-page sample that would show certification placement, FTE, step placement and the state minimum salary amounts (displayed as grayed-out cells). They discussed whether negotiated increases apply when a teacher’s district salary is below the state minimum and noted the added workload of manually inserting values into contracts.
"When your school district salary is less than the state minimum, then you earn the higher of the two," a committee member explained, clarifying how state minimums interact with locally negotiated increases. Members recommended adding a short key or asterisk to explain grayed-out or 'not applicable' cells and debated whether the additional manual step (currently done by a staff member) was worth the potential for errors.
The group agreed staff should prepare the revised language and return it as wood-design for the next meeting.
