Bargaining team approves adding girls wrestling coaching slots to negotiated agreement

Chair convened the discussion and asked members to review a proposed change that would add a girls varsity head coach and assistant position. Committee members clarified that three existing assistant slots remain district-wide and are not prescribed to boys or girls teams, and that the district would assign assistants where needed rather than reserving slots by gender.
"I came up with 8,800," one committee member said when asked about cost, describing that figure as the combined pay for two added positions. Members discussed how new roles would be placed on the extracurricular matrix, the possibility of reassigning current assistants to girls programs, and whether longevity or benefits rules would apply.
After discussion the group gave a unanimous thumbs-up to ‘‘move it to wood’’ — the technical step that prepares contract language for the next meeting — with the Chair asking staff to include the agreed positions and cost estimates in the draft negotiated agreement.
The item will return to the IBB team as wood-design language at the next scheduled meeting for review and formal inclusion in the district’s contract documents.
