The board voted to approve a joint letter supporting a federal restoration project described in the packet as the “shoots estator restoration project.” Staff said the draft letter came from the state and identified the Department of Ecology as a lead partner. Commissioners moved and seconded the motion and the clerk was authorized to apply the chair’s electronic signature; the motion carried.
The board also approved a letter of support for the Conservation District’s curb-planning grant application, which staff said has a deadline of March 27. Planning staff told commissioners that the county’s own planned application would not conflict with the Conservation District’s request. Commissioners moved and seconded approval and authorized use of electronic signatures; the motion carried.
On department item 9 (a sheriff/port-related matter), staff and the sheriff’s team said they were still awaiting port data needed to complete a combined financial overview. Commissioners agreed to postpone that item to the next business meeting—March 31—to allow time for staff to collect and circulate the missing information.
Commissioner Mahia said she had completed a recruitment process and recommended reappointing Daniel Bombarger to the planning commission. The clerk said an item could be added to the March 31 agenda under 24-hour notice; commissioners indicated support for adding the appointment to that agenda for formal consideration.
No ordinances or budget adoptions were finalized in the agenda-setting session; the board’s votes were limited to the two letters of support and scheduling decisions.
