Mayor Gerard Juda read a proclamation declaring March 2025 as American Red Cross Month in Rohnert Park and recognized local volunteers and donors who support the North Coast chapter and Sonoma-Napa disaster response area. "We do hereby proclaim March 2025 as American Red Cross month and encourage all our citizens of Rohnert Park to reach out and support this humanitarian mission," Mayor Juda said.
Leen Montel, identified as the Red Cross community disaster program manager, and Miriam Tang, a board member for the North Coast chapter, thanked the council and the community for ongoing support and accepted a pin from councilmembers. Council member Elward spoke about the Red Cross's international work and personal ties to aid efforts in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
During the public comment period, Laura McConnell described being on a waitlist for a community garden plot and asked whether the city could create additional garden space for apartment dwellers. Staff responded that they would reach out to her to discuss options. Another commenter, Steve Keith, urged staff to promote active transportation and community engagement along multi-use paths.
These items were handled as ceremonial and public-comment matters; the proclamation was presented and public commenters were directed to follow up with staff for next steps.
