Middletown council approves parade closures, contracts, budget transfer and local law

The Middletown Common Council approved a series of resolutions and a local law during its meeting. The actions, all passed on roll call unless noted, include temporary street closures for the annual Little League parade; a contract for monthly alarm monitoring with Harry Fertolo and Suns Electric; an agreement with the Sullivan County SPCA to shelter dogs in 2026; a $10,000 budget transfer for water and sewer bill printing; an amendment to rules of decorum for public meetings; establishing a handicap parking space at 23–25 Ogden Street (after an amendment); a code change extending the period to contest dangerous‑dog determinations; a reduction in dog impoundment fees; and a local law transferring supervision of public parks from the superintendent of recreation to the commissioner of public works.

Alderman Wit sponsored the resolution authorizing temporary street closures for the Little League parade; Alderman Green seconded the motion and the measure passed on roll call.

The council approved an agreement with Harry Fertolo and Suns Electric for monthly alarm monitoring (sponsored by Alderman Massie, seconded by Alderman Gomez) and an agreement with the Sullivan County SPCA for 2026 dog sheltering services (sponsored by Alderman Green, seconded by Alderwoman Ray).
