Jefferson Elementary board reappoints oversight members and acknowledges multiple bargaining proposals, sets public hearing for Sept. 10

The Jefferson Elementary School District Board of Trustees approved several administrative items, reappointed members to the citizens oversight committee, and acknowledged labor bargaining proposals and counterproposals, scheduling a public hearing for Sept. 10, 2025.
The board reappointed Thomas Nurus (business representative), Annette Shreve (at-large community member), Dong Tran (parent representative) and Jessica Wan Juan (parent representative) to the citizens oversight committee. A trustee moved to appoint the members, the motion was seconded, and the appointments were approved unanimously.
On labor matters the board acknowledged ("direct sunshine") the AFT Local 3267 renewal contract proposal for 2025–26 and JESD’s counterproposal, which identify negotiation topics such as wages, hours, health and welfare, class size and evaluation. The board likewise acknowledged receipt of CSEA Chapter 2233’s successor contract proposal for 2025–2028 and JESD’s counterproposal to CSEA; proposed negotiation articles listed included wages, benefits, holidays, leaves, and evaluation. The administration recommended scheduling a public hearing on these matters for Sept. 10, 2025; trustees voted to schedule the hearing and to make the proposals available for public review.
The consent agenda and other routine items on the meeting calendar were approved without amendment. All motions on these administrative items passed unanimously.
