Calexico Unified board approves certificated and classified employment reports with modifications

The Calexico Unified School District board approved certificated and classified employment reports with the modifications recommended by Superintendent Himenez.
On the certificated employment report, Superintendent Himenez asked the board to approve the report while removing the assignment for the seventh-grade girls volleyball coach. "It is recommended that the school board approve the certificated employment report with one modification ... that the assignments for 7th grade girls volleyball coach be removed from the employment report," he said. Trustee Calderon moved to approve the report as modified; the motion passed by vocal affirmative votes from trustees.
On the classified employment report, Himenez recommended removing (or by default not approving) a leave of absence without pay for an instructional assistant (severely handicapped) and not approving reemployment under Education Code 45309 for an instructional assistant and a bus driver/warehouse delivery position, while approving the remainder of the report. A motion to approve the classified employment report as read was moved and seconded; the board voted to approve the report.
The superintendent announced the board took no actions in closed session. The meeting concluded after a motion and second to adjourn, approved by vocal vote.
