The Village of Hampshire amended its agenda to include the ceremonial swearing-in of Officer Jerry Munos and the board read a proclamation designating Oct. 13 as Metastatic Breast Cancer (MBC) Awareness Day.
President Mike Reed Jr introduced Officer Jerry Munos as a lateral transfer from the Hampshire Police Department with more than 28 years of law-enforcement experience and multiple trainings, including crisis-intervention certification. The village administered the oath of office in a brief ceremony and invited family and the police commission to join photos.
Following the proclamation, Lisa (who identified herself as a Metavivor state captain) told the board about her 2016 metastatic breast cancer diagnosis, the tests and treatments she underwent and her ongoing advocacy. She urged donations to Metavivor, described a local Chicago-area awareness run on Oct. 12, and thanked the board for recognizing metastatic breast cancer awareness day.
The board recessed the ceremonial business and proceeded with regular agenda items.
