Committee hears growth in Ride DuPage and PACE 'WRAP' service; rides and registrations increased in FY25

Cassandra Hernandez Galvan gave an informational update on the city's participation in Ride DuPage and PACE's Ride Share Access Program (WRAP), which provide curb‑to‑curb paratransit and same‑day ride scheduling via users' Uber apps respectively. "For FY25 our registered rider total went up from 101 registered riders to 134," she said, noting an approximate 33% increase in registrations and an estimated 1,416 rides for the fiscal year, about an 18% rise from the prior year. Projected FY25 spending for the programs was reported at about $20,000, which staff said is under the budgeted amount.
Staff cautioned that April FY25 data were not yet released so they used the last six months to project final numbers and offered to supply trip‑distance and concentration statistics on request. Mayor Johnson and other aldermen asked about average trip distances and whether a small portion of users account for a large share of trips; staff said that data exist and they would follow up.
Staff explained how residents register (application on the city website or in person at City Hall) and noted a 48‑hour typical registration window from PACE. The committee acknowledged the program's value for seniors and residents who need travel assistance and praised the program's under‑budget performance and increased usage.
