Brown told the council the trailway group's revenue is about $106,000 and expenses about $67,000, producing a contribution to the fund balance of just under $40,000; the attachment to the agenda shows a fund balance availability of around $125,000 for maintenance and other purposes. Brown said usual costs included insurance and the trail manager position and that the city had adjusted how the trail manager position is handled administratively.
Council member McGron Fox asked how maintenance costs are split among communities; Brown replied that day‑to‑day budget items (insurance, manager fees) are covered by the trailway budget while maintenance of specific trail sections is handled by the individual communities. He noted an existing pavement issue west of the center area in Wixom would be handled by the city. Brown also said an interlocal agreement amendment remains under review and is near resolution.
A motion and second to approve the request passed by voice vote; the mayor announced the motion carried.
