Wixom swears in two new officers and two new council members; honors Resnik and Sharp on retirement

The Wixom City Council used its Dec. 16 meeting to swear in new public servants and honor outgoing members. Police Chief Langmire introduced and administered oaths to Jaylen Branch and Gabriel (Gabe) Scott, both recent graduates of the Oakland Police Academy (class 133). Family members participated in badge pinning.
The clerk then administered oaths to returning and incoming elected officials. Jason Kennedy and Veronica Simmons were sworn in as new council members. The council read multiple proclamations from county and state officials recognizing the public service of Deputy Mayor Thomas Resnik and Council Member Peter Sharp, both of whom were retiring from council after long tenures. County Commissioner Rob Smiley joined in presenting proclamations.
On behalf of the council and community, members offered personal remarks thanking Resnik and Sharp for years of service, citing accomplishments including the Assembly Park development, wayfinding signage and the Michigan Airline Trail. Both departing members offered brief reflections and advice to incoming council members before the meeting was adjourned.
No formal votes were required for the oath or proclamation presentations.
