Brisbane City Council selected Councilmember Colleen Mackin as the city’s new mayor and appointed Councilmember Davis as mayor pro tem during its regular meeting.
Councilmembers moved and seconded nominations for leadership. The motions were approved by voice vote. The council also administered oaths of office to multiple newly appointed committee members and commissioners representing planning, open space and ecology, park and recreation, and the IDEA committee.
Members read a proclamation thanking outgoing Mayor Cliff Lentz for his service; the proclamation summarized his year as mayor and his participation on regional bodies and city subcommittees. In accepting the proclamation, Lentz said, "Thank you to my council colleagues for the opportunity to serve as the Mayor," and reflected on the engagement he has had with residents during his tenure.
Council also briefly recognized Delores Gomez for her 95th birthday and recessed for a short break; the meeting resumed with further business.
