Council approves RFI/RFPs for Miners Foundry concessions, live music and outdoor dining

On May 28 the Nevada City Council approved release of a set of procurements designed to reactivate the Miners Foundry: an RFI for café/bar concessions, an RFP for live-music promotion at Osborne Woods Hall, and an RFP for an outdoor-dining project in the Foundry courtyard.
Assistant City Manager Lon Peterson described the RFI as a market-sounding step that will collect proposals and configurations (operators may propose one or more elements). The live-music RFP seeks a promoter to secure talent, manage contracts and collaborate on production; staff said they hope for roughly 30 performances per year. The outdoor-dining project aims to flatten and regrade a courtyard area to add ADA-compliant seating and improve access.
Public commenters expressed interest in operating the cafe and emphasized the importance of strong outreach. Staff said the RFI/RFP release is scheduled for June 2 with site-visit windows (June 9 and June 12) for potential proposers.
What the city will do next: city staff will collect RFI responses, consolidate models for council review, and then issue formal RFPs for the chosen configuration. The city noted the Foundry nonprofit ps final asset/liability resolution will support funding for the courtyard project as planned.
