City Manager Lawrence Peterson said the project budget is roughly $1 million, with about $750,000 proposed from Prop 64 funding and roughly $250,000 for city-provided site work. He emphasized a strong outreach plan that will include targeted engagement with the skate community, public workshops and multiple refinement meetings during the design process.
Public commenters from the local skate community urged extensive engagement, recommended surveys and site visits, and urged the city to learn from the wider county experience to avoid outreach gaps. The RFP timetable included a June 2 release and plans for community site visits and input prior to award. Council voted 5-0 to release the RFP and RFQ.
Next steps: staff will collect proposals, host community workshops and return to the council with shortlisted proposals and recommendations for award.
