Clive — At its April 24 meeting, the Clive City Council heard an extensive update on flood preparedness and mitigation and voted to adopt updates to the citys flood response and recovery plan while staff urged continuing planning work even though some federal grant programs are in flux.
Chief Clay Garcia summarized lessons from the citys March tabletop exercise and described operational improvements that made the response plan more robust, including placement of a communications liaison at the county emergency operations center and use of new damage-assessment tools. "What used to take people weeks on end is taking hours," Chief Garcia said about a new county damage-assessment app the city is deploying to get real-time data into the EOC.
