Franklin City Council voted Jan. 12 to extend the contract with Capital Results to continue interim city-manager services provided by Mr. Saunders beyond the originally scheduled Jan. 15 end date, until the city hires a permanent manager.
Council discussed placing a practical limit on the extension so the city would not have "two city managers at the same time." Several members suggested a 30-day cap on the extension; the council approved the extension and left open the option to amend the duration later if needed.
The item was described as a second amendment to the original agreement with no other contract changes. Council recorded the motion, seconded and carried the extension. Staff noted that a separate amendment specifying a firm end-date could be brought back for consideration if council wanted a definitive limit.
