Willard reports snow-response, water-plant delays and accepts Moose Lodge donation

City officials told Willard City Council on Feb. 2 that Huron County snow advisories guided the city’s response to the recent storm and that the Police and Maintenance departments assisted multiple stranded motorists and responded to several water-main breaks.
The city manager reported the water plant remains on schedule for work this month but that some electrical components were wrong and parts are backordered; Square D must sequence and program the electrical panels before pumps can run. The manager said the reservoir was about 6.5 feet low and confirmed the city has 125 tons of salt on hand, with 50 tons paid for and awaiting delivery and another 50 tons available under contract. "We have 125 tons of salt on hand," the city manager said.
Council accepted a $2,354.89 donation from the Willard Moose Lodge to the Centennial/Sesquicentennial Fund (motion by Olson, second Danhoff); the vote was unanimous. Councilmembers thanked the maintenance crews and other departments for storm response and for support at a retirement celebration.
