Willard council fills zoning and tax-review boards, appoints Park & Rec director and recognizes retirements

The Willard City Council approved multiple appointments to advisory boards and took personnel actions at its Jan. 5 meeting.
For the Zoning Board of Appeals the council approved two separate motions to fill five two-year seats: At-large council members voted to appoint Rickey Adams, Steve Pigg, David Smith and Andy Reiderman; ward council members then voted to appoint Nick Kousma. The Board of Review on Income Tax received unanimous appointments of Renee Steinmetz, Randy Wagner and David Frye to two-year terms.
The City Manager informed council that Park & Recreation Director Kim Williams will retire at the end of the month. Council approved the City Manager’s recommendation to appoint Jason Veletean as the next Park & Rec Director, contingent on successful pre-employment screening; the motion passed by unanimous roll call.
Council also approved recognizing Kim Elmlinger’s prior service with Erie County (2022–2025) for the purpose of vacation accrual as she prepares to retire. The motion to recognize her service time passed unanimously.
