The motion, moved by Mrs. Lopez and seconded by Dr. Hardy, covers implementation and professional learning services and is funded through the district’s learning recovery grant. Board members discussed the program’s focus on elementary grades and emphasized the need for teacher involvement and data to demonstrate that the tool supports instruction and improves outcomes.
Dr. Castro and others noted the program’s relatively high cost and asked staff to ensure broad teacher and administrator engagement. A board member asked whether i‑Ready scores would be used for reclassification of emergent bilingual students; the superintendent said that decision would require calibration and alignment and was to be determined by future board action and updated redesignation criteria.
The motion passed unanimously; staff will proceed with implementation and report back on usage and calibration questions as needed.
