Baxter police introduce Officer Luke Hall after accelerated field training

Chief Meyer told the council he wanted to recognize the department’s newest officer, Luke Hall, and to note changes he has pursued since taking over as chief, including acknowledging new hires.
The chief said field training for a new officer typically lasts about 16 weeks over four steps and that the department recently added a fifth step of about a month. He said Hall, a lateral hire with nine years of experience from the Nisa Police Department, completed the department’s field training in roughly three months and recently finished solo patrol in late September.
“Field training is normally for a new officer is roughly about 16 weeks,” the chief said, and added that Hall’s prior experience allowed him to progress more quickly. The chief told the council the accelerated completion helps the department reach full staffing levels and provide expected community services.
Councilmembers welcomed Hall and congratulated the department; no formal action was taken.
