Oakrove presents 3,513 LCAP responses; social-emotional learning and safety ranked top priorities

Oakrove — Assistant Superintendent Anna and Public Information Officer Shidel Singh presented the results of the district’s Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) outreach on May 8, reporting 3,513 total online responses and expanded in-person efforts at Title I sites.
Staff highlighted that student responses nearly doubled over the prior year and that the highest-ranked priority among educational partners was Goal 5 (safe, engaging and creative learning environments), followed by Goal 1 (academic proficiency under Common Core standards). Staff provided question-level results: 74.8% of respondents agreed or strongly agreed Oakrove prepares students for Common Core standards (a 2.4 percentage-point increase from the previous year); 80.1% rated parent/community engagement positively; and 80.2% said students feel physically safe at school. Respondents were less certain about social-emotional safety (72% agreed or strongly agreed), prompting staff to prioritize supports.
Why it matters: The LCAP informs how state LCFF funds and local discretionary spending are aligned with district goals. Staff said they will use the feedback to guide next year’s LCAP draft, which will be presented for public hearing in June and considered for approval at the board’s June meeting.
Next steps and commitments: Staff said they will preserve and expand visual and performing-arts supports under Prop 28, continue free meal programs, implement a new reading-difficulty screener, refresh K–12 device fleets and expand after-school programming (staff projected after-school services for ~2,700 students districtwide next year). Assistant Superintendent Anna said the formal LCAP draft will be brought to the board for public hearing in June.
