Gainesville proclaims EMS Week; Fire Rescue chief cites 2025 response statistics

The chief said, "GFR in the past year, 2025 responded to 30,000 requests for service." The chief added that, depending on how the data are examined, "between 16 and 20,000" of those calls were emergency medical service calls and described a number of clinical interventions the department performed.
The chief recounted specific outcomes the department tracked in 2025: field interventions including assistance during births, advanced airway procedures and responses to nontraumatic cardiac arrest. He reported that on 38 occasions crews "got a pulse back," and that in 18 of those cases the patient later left the hospital. The chief framed these statistics as evidence of the department's continuous training and community support.
The remarks were ceremonial acceptance of the proclamation; no new funding, staffing changes or formal policy directives were announced during the session. The department's numbers were provided by the chief during his acceptance remarks and were presented as departmental summaries rather than as a formal, detailed statistical report.
