Craven County adopts resolution to participate in supplemental nationwide opioid settlement

Commissioners discussed that additional waves of settlements may follow as other defendants work through bankruptcy proceedings and acknowledged that Craven County’s eventual receipt will be modest compared with the total nationwide amount.
The board moved, seconded, and adopted the resolution by roll‑call vote. Grady and commissioners noted that the deadline for affirmatively participating was approaching and that staff would track future settlement opportunities and deadlines.
Next steps: staff will complete any required participation paperwork and report back to the board on the county’s anticipated share once allocations are finalized.
