The council confirmed the appointment of Carly Bacon as attorney magistrate for the 2nd District Court, replacing a long-serving magistrate who retired or passed away. Members also approved a contract renewal with Saba Communications (recently sold to the owner transcribed as Cynthia Droog), with staff noting current-year spending to date of about $19,000 and a $25,000 budget cap for routine use.
Other approvals included authorization to add four street lights on Holtwood Court under the city's contract with Consumers Energy Company (developer to pay installation; the city to pay ongoing electrical costs), acceptance of a proposal to repair drinking-water intake screens for about $26,000, a three-year renewal of janitorial services for city facilities, and a grouped package of annual purchases and repairs covering engine replacement for dump trucks (a remanufactured engine ~ $35,000; exhaust work ~ $9,300), unit-price contracts for paving materials and concrete, and awards for plumbing supplies and landscape materials. All listed items were approved by roll call.
Council closed with community announcements including an employee breakfast and a community cleanup day scheduled for April 18.
