Boonton council approves consent agenda, adopts solid-waste ordinance and advances two others

The Boonton Mayor and Town Council approved a set of consent resolutions and advanced several ordinances during Tuesday’s meeting.
By roll call, the council approved the consent agenda (resolutions 25-152 through 25-168), which included change orders, paving-related items and a resolution authorizing the purchase of a fire truck. Council Member Weissman praised the fire department’s work in vetting and securing the appropriate vehicle.
Ordinance 12-25, which amends part of the town code dealing with solid waste, was opened for public hearing, received no public comment and was adopted on roll-call vote.
The council also introduced Ordinance 13-25 (amendments to handicap parking provisions) and Ordinance 14-25 (updates to fire-department candidate language) by motion and roll call; those measures move forward to their next legislative steps.
Mayor Lynch called for the motions and the roll-call votes for consent and ordinance business were recorded as affirmative during the meeting.
No public speakers addressed the solid-waste ordinance during the hearing. Several council members used their committee reports to highlight related town projects, including paving schedules and a pending RFP for paid parking.
The council adjourned after other business and a brief public-comment period with no public speakers.
