Carver County issues proclamations honoring public safety weeks and sexual assault awareness month

The board approved five Sheriff's Office proclamations (including National Public Safety Telecommunications Week, National Nurses Day, National Corrections Officers Week and National Peace Officers Week) and separately proclaimed April 2026 as Sexual Assault Awareness Month and April 6–12 as National Public Health Week.
The Carver County Board approved a slate of proclamations on April 7 recognizing county public‑safety staff and community health observances.
Chief Deputy Bari presented five proclamations: National Public Safety Telecommunications Week (for 911 dispatchers), Administrative Professionals Day, National Nurses Day (highlighting correctional nursing staff), National Corrections Officers Week and National Peace Officers Week (including recognition of three deputies killed in the line of duty). Commissioners offered brief thanks and the board approved the proclamations by motion.
The board also approved a proclamation recognizing April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month after remarks by Kenosha Alexander, executive director of the Sexual Violence Center, who outlined free community services including counseling, medical advocacy, legal assistance, court accompaniment and a longstanding multidisciplinary team serving Carver County.
A separate board resolution recognized April 6–12 as National Public Health Week; Dr. Scott later presented the department’s semiannual report under that observance.
