City Manager outlines police station renovation timeline and City Hall façade concerns

The City Manager told the Council on Dec. 15, 2025, that financing discussions are underway with three banks for a Police Department renovation and that work is slated to start Jan. 12, 2026. Council asked the City Manager to obtain a finalized quote for repair of the City Hall façade and to invite a representative from Janotta and Herner to a future meeting to discuss options.

During the City Manager's report members discussed attaching the façade repair cost to the Police Department loan as one financing option, though Council asked for a formal quote before deciding whether to proceed with Janotta and Herner or seek a different firm. The City Manager also reported other operations and infrastructure updates: a recent water main repair, service‑line work, and upcoming traffic‑signal repairs included in next year’s budget. A quote for a pedestrian crossing light by the public library was noted as a project staff would like to complete in the coming year.

The City Manager also reviewed operational items: leaf pickup is suspended until weather permits, the Maintenance Department has been busy with plowing and salting, and the department is recruiting with a test scheduled for Jan. 7, 2026 (application deadline Jan. 5, 2026). Staff were urged to exercise caution around snow‑plow equipment, and Fire and Police were thanked for conducting the 10th annual toy and food drive.

Council did not take formal votes on project financing or façade selection at the meeting; Council asked staff to return with cost details and vendor availability before any procurement or loan decision.
