Duboce County approves 2026 roadway treatment plan, Violytics contract and several bridge projects

County Engineer Levi Leopard reviewed the 2026 roadway treatment plan that the department will use to manage overlays, chip‑seal conversions and patching across roughly 72.55 miles of roadway. Commissioners moved to approve the plan by voice vote after a brief discussion and staff confirmed community crossing and other grant projects will be included where applicable.
Levi and Highway Department staff also described multiple bridge projects and expected closures: Ridge 78 (County Road 600 West) will close April 9 for rehabilitation lasting up to 60 days; bridges 107 and 240 were packaged and awarded to CNR Construction with early May starts and two‑to‑five week closures planned; Bridge 119 on Club Road is ahead of schedule after demolition and beam replacement.
The board also approved procurement of Violytics pavement‑management software. The engineer said a negotiated price reduction brought annual fees to about $28,250 (start‑up fee waived) and the county attorney reviewed contract terms; the board approved a three‑year Violytics agreement by motion and voice vote.
Other business: the board approved a resolution terminating a 15th Street Bridge interlocal agreement with the City of Jasper and accepted the corresponding termination agreement so county pledge funds could be released because the city has paused the project.
Why it matters: The roadway plan and software purchase are part of the highway department’s multi‑year approach to maintain pavements and reduce long‑term repair costs; multiple bridge closures will temporarily affect travel but are scheduled to limit overall closure time.
