Oversight board to delay recommendation on proposed facility; report now expected in July

Mark Elliott, president of the oversight board, told Vigo County commissioners the board will not meet its originally targeted April 15 deadline for a recommendation on the proposed facility plan and now expects to report in July.

"Due to the scope and complexity of the proposed facility plan, the board is not—will not—meet our originally targeted April 15th date," Elliott said, adding the delay stems from the late arrival of the county's annual financial report and outstanding information requests to the school corporation. He also cited "recent legislative changes to SEA 1" that require additional analysis.

The oversight board said the county financial report—handled by Crowe, the county's financial consultant—was not uploaded until March 1, limiting the time available for Crowe's analysis. Elliott said the delay does not require additional funding and reflects volunteer capacity and extra time committed by oversight members.

Elliott outlined next steps: the board will continue its data-driven review, meet this Thursday at 10:30 to hear initial assumptions and findings from Crowe, and aims to provide a fully supported recommendation to the commissioners in July.
