District leaders said VDOE sample plans exist and that the district will form a multidisciplinary team (teachers across levels, special education, technology and administrators) to define AI competencies and operational safeguards. The board agreed staff should revisit the district’s AI policy periodically and ensure vendor transparency around data collection and model usage.
The discussion emphasized a balance between preparing students for future work and guarding student data and instructional integrity; staff said guidance from the state and the technology plan development timeline will shape next steps.
