Taylor described the system as "the newest cameras available" with AI tools that learn the environment and alert staff to unusual activity, and said the company would provide training and post'installation service. He said the county would be expected to run network cabling; the vendor would handle equipment connections and configuration.
Councilman Cicali asked whether other agencies use similar contracts and whether grants could offset the cost. Taylor said grants exist for body'worn and in'car cameras but he was not certain about grants for in'building systems; he also said the vendor can provide references and a list of similar contracts. Council members asked that IT be included in follow'up discussions, and a member suggested a focused ad hoc committee or standalone meeting to review detention'center and sheriff's office technology proposals alongside other budget items.
The board did not vote on the proposal; members asked for additional cost breakdowns and for the sheriff to provide a ranked priority list of requests so the county can consider how vendor costs would fit within broader capital and operating budgets.
