Fanwood council adopts six consent resolutions including playground contract and shared court agreement

The Fanwood Borough Council unanimously adopted a six-item consent agenda at its Dec. 15 meeting, approving routine claims and contracts and moving forward on several administrative items.

Council President Patricia Walsh said the bundled resolutions (2025-12-211 through 2025-12-216) were presented to increase administrative efficiency and were previously reviewed by council members. The resolutions approved payment of claims (2025-12-211), a transfer of funds for public safety (2025-12-212), a municipal shared court services agreement with Garwood (2025-12-213), a sidebar/side-letter agreement between Garwood and Fanwood (2025-12-214), a contract with Westfield Regional Health Department (2025-12-215), and a contract award to install playground equipment at Forest Road Park (2025-12-216).

After council discussion, a motion and second to adopt the consent agenda passed on roll call. Council President Patricia Walsh, Councilman Jeffrey Banks, Councilman Anthony Carter, Councilwoman Erin Malroy Barker and Councilwoman Katherine Mitchell recorded affirmative votes and the motion carried.

The council did not debate the individual items at length during the public meeting; officials said each had been reviewed in advance. The shared-court services agreement and the Forest Road Park playground contract were highlighted among the items; the shared-court item was discussed further in the administration and finance report. The council indicated staff will follow up with implementation steps and contracts will be executed per the resolutions’ terms.

The council moved on to committee reports after the vote. No additional action was taken during the public meeting on these consent items.
