The Douglas County Board of Commissioners on March 17 authorized the county administrator to sign opioid settlement documents, appointed a Planning and Zoning Board member and deferred consideration of an immediate contract termination after court administrators were not present to explain the request.
Chair Dr. Ramona Jackson Jones opened the meeting, and the board unanimously approved an amended agenda that added the appointment of Larry Tooney to the Planning and Zoning Board, a proclamation recognizing Elana Meyers Taylor, authorization for the county administrator to sign opioid settlement documents, and consideration of immediate termination of Attorney Amber Waldon’s contract.
The board approved the appointment of Larry Tooney to the Planning and Zoning Board by a 3-0 vote. The board then voted 3-0 to give county administration authority to sign the opioid settlement documents, authorizing the county administrator to execute paperwork as needed.
On the matter of an alleged personnel issue involving Attorney Amber Waldon, the request to consider immediate termination reportedly originated from Superior Court Administration. Because Superior Court Administration representatives were not in attendance, the board voted 3-0 to defer consideration of termination until those representatives can present. The deferral does not set a date certain; the board indicated the item will return when Superior Court Administration can appear.
Other routine matters approved without opposition included the February 2026 financial report, minutes listed on the agenda, approval of the consent agenda, and a $200 reimbursable expense for Commissioner Martin Raxten for February 2026.
