After the clerk called the roll, the commission voted in favor of Boney and the city attorney passed the gavel to him. Mayor Tony Boney thanked the commission and said he looks forward to representing the city for the next year.
The vote was conducted in chambers by roll call at the direction of the city attorney; the nomination passed and the gavel changed hands immediately. No formal contest or public testimony occurred during the election.
The commission handled a related procedural matter earlier in the meeting: after public questions about term staggering and charter language, the body voted unanimously to withdraw a separate agenda item (11B) that would have changed mayoral term language, citing confusion about term math and public interest.
The commission moved on to regular business and community announcements after the swearing-in and presentation of the gavel.
