Board approves agenda, minutes, claims, permits and two personnel actions

The Hardin County board handled routine business at the start of its meeting, approving the agenda, the April 15, 2026 minutes and claims for payment in a series of motions that passed without recorded opposition.
The board also approved a motion to designate the Signal Review of Hubbard as an official county publication after the previous official was no longer available. Supervisors approved an agreement to compromise and assign tax sales certificate 2200005 for property listed at 402 Washington Street in Elmira.
Other actions included approval of an Allstate life‑insurance option (the board approved offering a term policy to age 100 for 2026–27), authorization for the chair to sign 2026–27 rates and agreements with IGHCP, Glenmark and EBS, and approval of two utility permits (Alliant Energy and REM Network Services).
Personnel actions approved included a sheriff’s department anniversary pay increase for Sean McKnight to $36.54 an hour and the hiring of Jordan Steffy as a permanent part‑time roadside mower at $21.50 an hour.
The board also approved a community betterment sign grant match application for BN Company, a new interior design business in Iowa Falls, for a $500 sign grant.
All motions in these items were moved, seconded and carried during the meeting; where roll calls occurred the board recorded unanimous 'aye' votes.
