Two Rivers council adopted a revised code of conduct for elected officials on April 6 that shortens the document from roughly 14 pages to four and clarifies expectations for ethical behavior and interactions with staff, the public and fellow council members.
During debate, Councilmember Adam Wasekey argued that language in section 6A1—prohibiting use of devices during meetings for non-city business—should be deleted because it could be punitive and unclear. The council moved to adopt the revised code with 6A1 removed and approved the motion by roll-call vote. City staff said the policy is intended to be easier to understand and enforce and will take effect after the next reorganization meeting.
Council described the revision as returning the code to a concise, enforceable form while retaining ethical expectations.
