"I'm not seeing the returns when I'm looking these exact things online," he said, and said he could not approve the item as submitted. Sheriff Bingham and public works staff explained the selection process, noting the use of competitively bid cooperative contracts and choosing furniture expected to last five to six years to avoid recurring replacement costs.
Public commenters, including a retired servicemember, urged support for durable seating for staff health and ergonomics. Supervisors asked staff to return an updated list showing any reductions in high-ticket items; the board authorized the purchase and asked for a revision list if staff later negotiated reductions.
