Commissioner Burns moved to adopt the bills resolution R-58-22; Commissioner Maxam seconded. The council approved the bills by roll call with Commissioners Burns, Maxam, Nero and Vog and Mayor Hoskins voting yes.
Council also approved the final pay request and abandonment submitted by Galaxy Underground Inc. for the Harlem Avenue and Harrison Street emergency water‑main improvements under resolution R-60-22. Commissioner Nero moved the pay‑request approval; Commissioner Vog seconded. The record shows a unanimous roll‑call vote in favor.
The council appointed Caris Smith to the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for a term ending in 2024 and appointed Heather Victory to the Recreation Board for a term ending in 2026. Commissioner Maxam moved to appoint Caris Smith and Commissioner Nero seconded; Commissioner Vog moved to appoint Heather Victory with Commissioner Maxam seconding the latter; both appointments were confirmed by unanimous roll‑call votes. During public comment the clerk read an emailed submission from Joseph Sullivan, who said he attended a recent budget meeting and was "concerned about the anticipated Village budget shortfall for the coming year," and suggested the Council continue discussions about the possible return of video gaming as a revenue source. The council made no formal action on that suggestion at the July 11 meeting.
All recorded motions in these items passed by unanimous roll-call votes. The meeting later recessed to closed session under 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(5) to discuss purchase or lease of real property and collective bargaining matters and did not return to open session.
