Forest Park council authorizes bids for fire department roof rehabilitation after commissioner reports leaks

The Village of Forest Park Village Council on July 11 authorized specifications and the advertisement of bids for a fire department roof rehabilitation project, saying the work is needed after council members reported evidence of leaking above firefighter living quarters.

Commissioner Vog moved the resolution to approve the specifications and advertise bids; Commissioner Nero seconded. Commissioner Maxam said she had recently toured the facility and reviewed photos that Chief Chapata provided, and described water staining and temporary measures to collect leaks. "I feel like this project should have been done a long time ago," Maxam said. "I was honestly pretty horrified — just the water spots in the ceiling and bins out there collecting water." She urged the council to move forward with the repairs because the condition affected space above the department’s living quarters.

Council members voted by roll call to adopt resolution R-59-22. The record shows Commissioners Burns, Maxam, Nero and Vog and Mayor Hoskins all voting in favor. The motion passed unanimously.
