Assembly awards $219,453 cyber‑security infrastructure contract; grant to cover portion of cost

The Kodiak Island Borough Assembly voted March 5 to award a cybersecurity infrastructure contract intended to upgrade the borough's firewall, switches and wireless access points.

Madame Mayo told the assembly the RFP solicited proposals in August 2025 and staff received four proposals. After scoring, staff recommended the top‑scoring respondent (referred to in the transcript as "Conag Cyber Solutions" and later as "Concy Solutions"). The contract amount presented in staff materials was $219,453; staff said the Alaska cybersecurity grant program would reimburse up to $180,000 and that the borough would fund any difference from its IT budget if the state does not adjust the award.

Assembly members voiced support for the selection process and vendor scoring, noting the importance of capability over price when protecting critical infrastructure. "There's a lot of nasty stuff that goes down over the internet. So, I'm all in favor of having cyber solutions on our side," Mr. Smiley said.
