The Santa Maria Bonita School District board on Oct. 8 approved a one‑year contract with Renaissance Learning to implement the EdgeClimber platform districtwide to support MTSS teams and intervention tracking.
Presenters said the tool will bring multiple data sources — assessments, attendance, discipline, interventions and growth measures — into a single visualization workflow so teams spend less time assembling data and more time planning supports. A district presenter described the platform as an "early warning system" that will allow staff to see who is attending interventions, how often and whether interventions are effective.
Lori Grock and a technology lead explained the district evaluated about a dozen platforms, narrowed the list to six, then to three, and conducted demonstrations and piloting with teachers and MTSS team members before recommending EdgeClimber. Staff also said the district will retire at least one existing subscription to avoid duplication.
The contract was presented as a one‑year commitment; staff said they plan to reassess after implementation. The board approved the motion to accept the contract by roll call.
