At its Aug. 28 meeting the Lynwood Unified School District board approved several personnel items and a settlement disclosed in closed session.
General Counsel reported the key terms of the employment contract for Dr. Martell Martinez as assistant superintendent of educational services: a three‑year term effective Sept. 1, 2025; a salary of $210,541 (placement on step one of the cabinet salary schedule); a $2,500 annual doctoral stipend; 245 working days per fiscal year; participation in district health, dental and vision plans; $250,000 term life insurance; and 24 days of paid vacation. The board approved the contract on a unanimous 4–0 voice vote.
The board also approved the employment of a director of nutrition awareness (item 13B2) and passed minutes and routine consent items by voice vote. General Counsel later reported from closed session that the board approved a settlement for $62,350 with a 3–1 vote (Miss Lopez opposed). No additional follow‑up instructions were recorded in the public readout.
The meeting adjourned at 7:11 p.m., and the board set its next regular meeting for Sept. 11, 2025.
