Board approves teacher waivers, lease substitution, Prop 28 report and facility naming

Teacher assignment waivers: On a motion moved by Member Moran and seconded by Member Leeb, the board adopted resolutions 39-24, 40-24 and 42-24 approving waivers for identified staff to teach outside their credential authorizations pursuant to Education Code section 44258.7(c) and (d). Lease-substitution and certificates of participation: The board adopted Resolution 41-24 (moved by Mr. Lee, seconded by Miss Smith), which authorizes substitution of lease property securing the 2015 certificates of participation and approves related amendments to the 2015 site lease and 2015 lease agreement.
Prop 28 annual report and job description: Trustees approved the Proposition 28 Arts and Music funding annual report for fiscal year 2023–24 (staff noted there were no expenditures in 23–24 yet and plans are in progress) and approved the job description for a Community Schools coordinator to lead grant implementation.
Board policy updates and facility naming: The board declared intent to adopt mandated updates to BP 5126 and AR 5126, and approved naming the Lofton Stadium football field "Joe Bondi Field" after a public hearing produced no speakers.
Consent calendar and closed session: The consent calendar was approved as presented. In closed session the board approved a request for a leave extension for a classified employee without benefits; the recorded vote was six yeses, zero nos, and one absent.
