At the start of the March 11 meeting, Mayor Pro Tem Tim Klein Lopez presented highlights from Clean Power Alliance’s 2025 annual impact report. He said the joint powers authority serves more than 3 million residents and businesses across approximately 38 jurisdictions and reported that about two‑thirds of its customers are on a 100% renewable energy product.
Mayor Pro Tem Klein Lopez said the authority reported 3.6 billion pounds of greenhouse‑gas reductions in 2025, enrolled 33,000 new customers last year, provided about $375,000 in community grants and identified roughly $35 million in customer savings tied to pre‑purchased procurement strategies. Staff described a planned pilot daytime rate meant to encourage at‑home charging during abundant daytime solar production; UCLA behavioral researchers are expected to be involved in the pilot’s design.
The council received the briefing; staff did not ask for a formal council action on the report at this meeting.
