The assistant director explained that Amtrak will undertake improvements intended to bring its station into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. "The improvements will include raising the existing platform by 8 in.," the commissioner said, and the legislation authorizes a license for up to 24 months to allow construction, laydown and contractor parking on city property. The assistant director said daily station operations should not be impacted and Amtrak will restore disturbed areas upon completion.
The committee had no further questions and approved ordinance 34‑2026.
