On dust control, Maddox said the program takes manpower and equipment away from core road work during their busiest time of year and suggested ending it. Commissioner Rick Woodall acknowledged the resource strain but emphasized the service helps constituents by reducing dust on gravel roads; Woodall said he struggled with the decision to discontinue the program absent funding for alternatives such as chip-and-seal or paving. Maddox also reported a potential vehicle replacement quote from Enterprise that could replace four vehicles and save money, and that a part-time employee is resigning at the end of the month, after which two operators will carry out roadside trimming and related tasks.
