Ulster County committee backs grant support for Kingston‑Ulster Airport hangar

The Ulster County Legislature committee voted to support a New York State transportation grant application from Kingston‑Ulster Airport LLC to build a six‑to‑eight‑bay stacked hangar to provide covered storage for aircraft currently parked outside on the apron. The resolution (No. 34) was moved, seconded and approved during the committee's February meeting.
Todd, speaking for Kingston‑Ulster Airport, told the committee the airport has been pursuing ways to expand operations and revenue by leasing newly built hangars to tenants. "There is a shortage of hangar space throughout the northeast," Todd said, adding he expected the new bays would be filled without difficulty if the grant is awarded.
County members asked procedural questions about the grant application and expressed support for the airport's plan before moving the resolution. The committee's approval is a local endorsement the airport needs to include with its New York State grant application.
The committee did not amend the resolution and indicated it would provide the county support requested by the airport. The resolution was adopted and will move through the legislative process as part of the county's endorsements for state transportation grant candidates.
